In September 2025, Thailand’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, through its Pollution Control Department (PCD), published an explanatory document detailing the latest draft of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Management Act (WEEE Act). Prepared by the Waste and Hazardous Substances Management Division of the PCD’s Bureau of Pollution Control, the document outlines the proposed regulatory framework for managing WEEE, which currently lacks a systematic management system and dedicated legal structure in Thailand. This draft represents Thailand’s first legislative initiative focused exclusively on WEEE management and aims to establish a circular economy for WEEE. It places responsibility on producers for the entire lifecycle of their products and calls for participation from all stakeholders—government, private sector, and consumers—to prevent environmental and health impacts and improve the efficiency of sustainable recycling.
