Thailand Expands Ban on E-Waste Imports

On June 23, 2025, Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce issued a new notification prohibiting the import of electrical and electronic waste into the Kingdom. This regulation, titled “Ministry of Commerce Notification: B.E. 2568 (2025) on the Designation of Electrical and Electronic Waste as Prohibited Imports into Thailand,” expands upon a previous 2020 notification. The earlier rule banned the import of 428 items classified under statistical item code (HS code) 899 within Chapters 84 and 85 of the Customs Tariff. The new notification increases the number of banned items to 463 and took effect on June 24.
