Thailand Issues Regulations for Black Smoke Monitoring and Flare Stack Management

On May 22, 2025, the Department of Industrial Works (DIW) under Thailand’s Ministry of Industry promulgated the Notification of the Department of Industrial Works: B.E. 2568 (2025) Guidelines for Visual Observation, Video Recording, or Remote Imaging of Black Smoke Emissions from Flare Stacks and Assessment of Vent Gas Mass Flow Rate. On May 27, 2025, the Ministry of Industry followed with the Notification of the Ministry of Industry: B.E. 2568 (2025) Regulations on Flare Stack Management. The latter aims to align with the DIW notification and reinforce the effectiveness of the prescribed standards. Both notifications entered into force on May 28, 2025.
