Thailand’s Ministry of Industry issued a notification strengthening safety measures for use of ammonia as a refrigerant.

On December 6, 2024, the Thai Ministry of Industry promulgated, in the Official Gazette, the Notification of Ministry of Industry on Standards and Procedures for the Preparation and Submission of Reports on the Installation, Repair, Modification, and Abandonment of Cooling Systems Using Ammonia as a Refrigerant of Buddhist Year of 2567 (2024). This Notification, which provides for safety measures and reporting rules for ammonia, took effect on December 7, 2024, the day following its promulgation. This Notification is subordinate to the provisions of Articles 4, 8, 12, and 15 of the Ministry of Industry Ordinance Regulating Safety Measures for Cooling Systems Using Ammonia of Buddhist Year of 2554 (2011), which governs the refrigerant management in factories.
