Thailand drafted industrial standard to implement RoHS2

Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) opened a draft industrial standard “TIS 2368–25XX Electrical And Electronic Equipment That May Contain Hazadous Substances : Restriction Of The Use Of Certain Hazardous Substances” for public consultation in June 2020. The draft revises existing voluntary industrial standard TIS 2368-2551 (2008) in line with EU-RoHS2 (Directive 2011/65/EU).

As is scoped in the EU-directive, the draft standard extends restrictions in the use of hazardous substances to a wider range of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) under a concept of open-scope. Moreover, following four restricted substances are added to the existing standard,

  • Bis(2-Ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP): 0.1%;
  • Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP): 0.1%;
  • Dibutyl phthalate (DBP): 0.1%); and
  • Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP): 0.1%.
