China’s ministry of commerce issues industry standard for used home appliance collection service

On March 27, 2025, China’s Ministry of Commerce issued the industry standard “Used Home Appliance Collection Service Specification” (SB/T 11246-2025), which will take effect from October 1, 2025.This standard outlines the basic requirements for used home appliance collection services, requirements for pickup and collection services, and requirements for service optimization. It applies to the collection of used home appliances such as televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and personal computers. However, it does not apply to appliances listed in the National Hazardous Waste List or those identified as hazardous according to national hazardous waste identification standards.
