Thailand updates requirements for safety officers at workplaces

Thailand Ministry of Labor published “Ministerial Regulation Regarding Arrangement of Safety Officers, Department, or Group of Person to Conduct Safety Operation in the Workplace B.E. 2565 (2022)” in the Royal Gazette on 17 June 2022. The regulation, which repeals the Ministerial Regulation Prescribing Standard for Administration and Management on Occupational Safety, Health and Work Environment B.E. 2549 (2006), sets out guidelines, methods, and conditions for safety officers in workplace. The regulation will be effective 60 days after the announcement in the Royal Gazette.

 

Safety officers at work

There are two types of safety officer at a workplace, namely (1) Safety officers working by position (supervisor level and management level), and (2) Safety officers working by specific duties (technical level, advanced technical level, and professional level). An establishment with a certain number of employees listed in Annex of the Ministerial Regulation shall arrange to have required safety officers as follows;
