Thailand issued notification on lead pollution sources and possible affected populations

On November 26, 2024, Thailand promulgated the “Notification of the Committee for the Control of Occupational and Environmental Diseases of B.E. 2567 (2024) Concerning Types, Scale, and Characteristics of Pollution Sources, and Types or Populations of People Affected or Potentially Affected by Pollution.” This Notification stipulates the types, scale, and characteristics of contamination sources that may cause lead poisoning, and the types or populations of people affected or potentially affected by the contamination. The stipulated pollution sources include: mines of lead or lead compounds, mining operations using lead or lead compounds, lead smelting operations, petrochemical operations, and electrical equipment manufacturing operations. This Notification will take effect on May 25, 2025.
