Gas canister and portable Stove become Label-Controlled Products in Thailand

The Label Committee of Thailand, the organization responsible for consumer protection, published the “Notification on designated of gas canister and portable stove as label-controlled products” in the Government Gazette on 18 July 2024. The Notification provides the definitions of “gas canister” and “portable stove” in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act B.E. 2522 (1979). The gas canister refers to a product contains not exceed to 1 liter of natural gas Liquids (NGL) such as propane, butane, or its mixing in aerosol form for being a fuel, while the portable stove refers to a cooking equipment using NGL gas canister as its fuel. To prevent improper use of them as well as its danger, these products were designated as label-controlled products. The Notification shall come into force after 120 days from the date of its publication in the Government Gazette, namely 13 November 2024.
