Thailand renews a list of banned substances for cosmetics

Thailand announced “Notification of the Ministry of Public Health Prescribing the Name of any Substance Prohibited for Use as an Ingredient in Cosmetic Production B.E. 2566 (2023)” in the Royal Gazette on 22 June 2023. The notification designates 1610 chemical substances (or group of chemicals) restricted to use for production of cosmetics by virtue of the Cosmetics Act B.E. 2558 (2015). The notification has been effective from the next day of the publication in the Royal Gazette. Following past notifications were replaced by the new notification.

• Ministry of Public Health Notification regarding Prohibited Ingredients in Cosmetics Production, B.E. 2559 (A.D. 2016), issued on 22 April B.E. 2559 (A.D. 2016).
• Ministry of Public Health Notification regarding Prohibited Ingredients in Cosmetics Production (No. 2), B.E. 2560 (A.D. 2017), issued on 20 February B.E. 2560 (A.D. 2017).
• Ministry of Public Health Notification regarding Prohibited Ingredients in Cosmetics Production (No. 3), B.E. 2561 (A.D. 2018), issued on 5 September B.E. 2561 (A.D. 2018).
• Ministry of Public Health Notification regarding Prohibited Ingredients in Cosmetics Production (No. 4), B.E. 2562 (A.D. 2019), issued on 29 May B.E. 2562 (A.D. 2019).
• Ministry of Public Health Notification regarding Prohibited Ingredients in Cosmetics Production (No. 5), B.E. 2563 (A.D. 2020), issued on 28 May B.E. 2563 (A.D. 2020).
• Ministry of Public Health Notification regarding Prohibited Ingredients in Cosmetics Production (No. 6), B.E. 2563 (A.D. 2020), issued on 28 May B.E. 2563 (A.D. 2020).
• Ministry of Public Health Notification regarding Prohibited Ingredients in Cosmetics Production (No. 7), B.E. 2565 (A.D. 2022), issued on 1 February B.E. 2565 (A.D. 2020).
