India extends validity of energy labels for UHD televisions to end of 2022

On December 28, 2021, India’s Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power issued the notifications for extending the validity of the existing energy efficiency standards-based ratings for ultra-high definition (UHD) televisions, which are voluntary products under the Standards & Labeling Programme, to the end of 2022. Where manufactures or permittees wish to continue the existing labels that have already been approved for product models, they have to fill with the prescribed form and submit it to BEE with a sample of the revised label. UHD televisions were added as the target under this program on January 11, 2021, and the program had begun to apply.

Eligible products are UHD televisions of Liquid Crystal Display with LED backlighting, OLED displays, QLED displays, Micro-LED displays, that may be utilized to make and sell UHD televisions in the Indian market having native resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels (4K) which can be powered only by an external power supply at a voltage not exceeding 250 V ac, 50 Hz being manufactured, imported and commercially purchased or sold in India.
