On July 1, 2025, Malaysia’s state-owned electric utility Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) announced a significant reduction in electricity tariffs under its Green Electricity Tariff (GET) programme, which supplies electricity generated from renewable sources. Beginning in July, the electricity unit price has been standardized across all contract categories, which was previously differentiated by voltage (low, medium, or high) as part of the rate reduction. Additionally, the applicants will also be eligible to obtain Malaysia’s own renewable energy certificates known as mRECs, through a new system called GET Greenpath scheduled to launch on August 1, 2025.
