Vietnam Releases Draft Decree for Establishing Domestic Carbon Exchange

On March 25, 2025, Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance released a draft governmental decree concerning the establishment of a domestic carbon exchange. This decree continues the implementation of the national plan for developing a carbon credit market in Vietnam, as approved under Prime Minister Decision No. 232/QD-TTg dated January 24, 2025. It marks a significant step in fulfilling Vietnam’s international commitments on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction and climate change, while promoting cost-effective corporate strategies for emission mitigation.
