India solicits opinions on amendment to display two or more main constituents, etc. on packaged goods

On August 16, 2022, the Indian Department of Consumer Affairs launched a solicitation for opinions on an amendment to display two or more of the main constituents of a product along with the brand name or logo on the front of the package in the “Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011.” Under the amended rules, for the benefit of consumers, all subject packaged goods are required to make a number of declarations, including the name and address of the manufacturer/packaging business/importer, country of origin, general or generic designation of the goods, net quantity, date of manufacture, suggested retail price, and details of consumer care.
