South Korea announced a bill to strengthen labeling requirements for consumer chemical products

On May 2, 2025, the Ministry of Environment (MOE) of South Korea announced a bill to amend the Designation of Consumer Chemical Products Subject to Safety Check and Relevant Safety and Labeling Standards, as a notice related to the Consumer Chemical Products and Biocides Safety Act (South Korean version of the Biocidal Product Regulation: K-BPR).

The bill mainly aims to (1) remove tattoo inks from the list of subject products, (2) amend the labeling standards for moisture removal agents and combustion-type products, and (3) add the labeling standards for products that fall under “child-resistant packaging.”
