Indonesia Establishes Long-Term Roadmap for Decarbonizing the Power Sector

On April 15, 2025, Indonesia enacted “Ministerial Regulation No. 10/2025 on the Energy Transition Roadmap in the Power Sector.” The regulation took effect immediately upon promulgation and was issued under Article 3, Paragraph 1 of “Presidential Decree No. 112/2022 on the Promotion of Renewable Energy Development.” Its objective is to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the power sector. The roadmap outlines measures such as the early retirement of coal-fired power plants, the development of nuclear energy, and the promotion of green ammonia and green hydrogen.
