Vietnam releases draft rules to make industrial alcohol distinct from food-grade alcohol

On Aug. 19, 2022, Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade released draft rules requiring that industrial and food-grade alcohol be made distinct. The proposed rules aim to prevent non-food-grade alcohol from being used in alcoholic beverage production. They would require the addition of coloring agents and application of warning signs for industrial alcohol and apply to organizations and individuals producing, trading or using industrial alcohol in Vietnam. Comments on the draft will be accepted through Oct. 17, 2022.
