Indonesia establishes MEPS and energy saving labelling regulation for LED lighting

On July 5, 2022, the Decision of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 135 of 2022 concerning Minimum Energy Performance Standard and Energy Saving Label for LED Lighting was enacted in Indonesia. This Decision is a subordinate legislation of the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 14 of 2021 on Application of Minimum Energy Performance Standards to Energy Consuming Equipment, which stipulates the definition of covered LED lighting, exemptions, test methods, energy saving label design, energy efficiency rating criteria, and MEPS. The three main types of LED lighting to be regulated are (1) self-ballasted LED lighting, (2) self-ballasted straight tube LED lighting, and (3) LED floodlights.
