Indonesia’s Regulation Requires Energy Management for Industries and Buildings

On March 13, 2025, the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 8/2025 on Energy Management was promulgated in Indonesia, which came into effect on the same day. The regulation stipulates details of the obligations imposed on large energy consumers as stipulated in Government Regulations No. 33/2023 on Energy Conservation, such as appointing an energy manager, conducting energy audits, and preparing energy efficiency programs.

The following regulations have been repealed in accordance:

  • Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources' Regulation No. 14 of 2012 on Energy Management
  • Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources' Regulation No. 41 of 2015 on Classification of State Qualifications of Professional, Scientific and Technical Sectors of Energy Managers in Industry and Buildings and Technical Responsible Persons and Others
