India’s Plastic Packaging EPR Online Portal Migrates to EPR Common Portal

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) of India announced on June 28, 2026, that the centralized online portal under the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 will be discontinued and all functions of the portal will be migrated to the Common EPR Portal starting July 1, 2026. CPCB will handle all data migration, while obligated entities under these rules (producers, importers, brand owners, recyclers etc.) are asked to verify any discrepancy or mismatch after the migration.

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) rules are currently in force for other waste categories in addition to plastic packaging as well, including E-waste, batteries and end-of-life vehicles (ELVs), with each operating through its own online portal. The Common EPR Portal was launched in February 2026 as part of the board's plan to phase out each individual portals and consolidate all functions into one single platform. However, no specific schedule for the remaining migrations was made public.
