India’s New Simplified Certification Scheme for Air Conditioners, Electrical Appliances, Footwear & more

On June 25, 2026, India's Ministry of Commerce and Industry published the Transition Facilitation (Quality Control) Order, 2026 along with its guidelines, which will remain in force for a period of five years. Among the products that require mandatory certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018, applications for certification for 10 items can now be made under Scheme II.
