China Publishes Draft for Approval of the Mandatory National Standard for RoHS

On April 14, 2025, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the draft for approval of the mandatory national standard for China RoHS, titled "Requirements for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" (GB 26572), and opened it for public comment until April 21, 2025. Significant revisions from the draft published in November 2024 include the incorporation of amendments from SJ/T 11364-2024 and the removal of Chapter 8, "Inspection Requirements," which had attracted the attention from many companies.

 

Scope of Application

This standard establishes the content limits and display requirements for hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products produced, sold, or imported within China's borders.

Electrical and electronic products refer to devices and related products that operate depending on electric current or electromagnetic fields, or for the generation, transmission, and measurement of such currents and fields, with a rated operating voltage of up to 1500V DC or 1000V AC. Equipment related to the production, transmission, and distribution of electrical energy is excluded.
