China Releases 15th Five-Year Plan for Soil and Groundwater Ecological Environmental Protection

On July 13, 2026, administrative agencies including China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the National Development and Reform Commission released the "15th Five-Year Plan for Soil, Groundwater, and Agriculture-Rural Ecological Environmental Protection." The plan sets specific quantitative targets, including aiming for a "safe utilization rate of contaminated farmland" of at least 95% by 2030. It also outlines concrete measures to strengthen construction land risk management and groundwater pollution controls.
