Philippines Issues New Department Order Fully Revising Occupational Safety and Health Regulations

On April 28, 2025, the Philippines enacted “Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 11058 Entitled “An Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof”. This order was published in the Manila Times and Philippine Daily Inquirer on May 1, 2025, and took effect on May 16, 2025. Upon its enactment, Department Order No. 198-18 was nullified. The new order serves as the fundamental regulation governing occupational safety and health (OSH) standards in the country, detailing workplace OSH programs and the assignment of safety officers.
