India proposes regulation mandating energy saving labeling for washing machines

On January 24, 2023, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) of India announced the draft regulation Bureau of Energy Efficiency (Particulars and Manner of their Display on Labels of Washing Machine), Regulations, 2023, to transition Washing Machines, which are currently optional products of the energy efficiency labeling system “Standards & Labeling Programme”, to products subject to labeling obligations, and is soliciting opinions for 30 days.
