India to amend energy efficiency labeling scheme for stationary storage type electric water heater

On June 28, 2022, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) of India published proposed amendments to its regulations governing the labeling of stationary storage type electric water heaters, which is a mandatory appliance under the energy efficiency labelling scheme Standards & Labelling Programme. The regulations are called Bureau of Energy Efficiency (Particulars and Manner of their Display on Labels of Stationary Storage Type Electric Water Heater), Amendment Regulations, 2022, and the BEE is accepting public comments for a period of 30 days. The proposed amendment includes a provision regarding company registration/model registration for obtaining a permit to affix the energy efficiency label, as well as a provision to unify payment of fees for renewal of permission in accordance with the revision of star rating by electronic mode of payment.
