India stipulates new energy saving standard for color televisions

On 24 May 2022, the Ministry of Power of India issued a notification (S.O. 2369 (E).) setting a new energy saving standard for color televisions, which are one of the products subject to labeling obligations under the energy saving labeling system “Standards & Labeling Program.” The standard applies from July 1, 2022 to December 31, 2024, and classifies five-star ratings based on annual energy consumption. The target products are color televisions (including CRT, LCD, plasma, and LED) with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels or less manufactured or sold in India. Computer monitors are excluded.
