India Mandates Labelling of Energy Label for Washing Machines 
As part of the Standards & Labeling Programme, India’s Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) on October 31, 2023, promulgated the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (Particulars and Manner of their Display on Labels of Washing Machine), Regulations, 2023, to move washing machine to be under the mandatory scheme, which was once a voluntary product. All specified information must be displayed on washing machines within 6 months of promulgation (before April 30, 2024). Separately, the Ministry of Power has also notified the newest energy standards for washing machines to be applied within January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2026.
