China publishes draft bans on 8 mercury-added products, dental amalgam based on amendments to Minamata Convention

On June 28, 2024, China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment published draft regulations on eight items of mercury-added products, including mercury vacuum pumps, and on dental amalgam to seek comments on the draft after the country ratified the amendments to Annex A of the Minamata Convention on Mercury (Decision MC-4/3) adopted by the fourth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP-4) to the convention. The ministry accepted comments on the draft through July 15, 2024.
