Global GHG Protocol and ISO to Integrate Corporate GHG Accounting Standards

Final Version Planned for Release in 2028

GHG Protocol and ISO to Integrate Corporate GHG Accounting Standards

On July 29, 2026, the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) announced that it will strengthen its collaboration with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and move toward integrating their respective corporate greenhouse gas accounting standards into a single global standard. The integration will cover GHGP Scope 1, 2, and 3, the draft Actions and Market Instruments (AMI) framework—which organizes and reports the effects of corporate climate actions and market mechanisms—and ISO 14064-1. The two organizations plan to conduct a joint public consultation in the second quarter of 2027 and release the final integrated standard in the fourth quarter of 2028.
