Philippines Releases Guidelines on EIA for Offshore Wind Power Generation

In the Philippines, DAO 2024-02: Interim Guidelines for Environmental Compliance Certificate under the Philippine Environmental Impact Statement System for Offshore Wind (OSW) Energy Projects was enacted on January 18, 2024.  This order specifies the various requirements that developers must comply with, focusing on the method of applying for the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC), which is required for the development of offshore wind power. The order was promulgated on February 16, 2024 in the local newspaper (Manila Bulletin), and subsequently entered into force upon its approval by the Office of the National Administrative Register (ONAR) on February 20 of the same year.
