India Develops Common Portal for Faster Login and EPR Certificate Trading Platform

In February 2026, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) of India came to establish a common portal for all Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) rules, along with a dedicated electronic platform for EPR certificate trading. Companies were previously required to log in to specific portals for each EPR rules and complete procurement procedures for EPR certificates individually. These new platforms now allow for a simpler login process for companies and better data management.

There are seven EPR rules in force as of now: plastic packaging, E-waste, batteries, end-of-life vehicles (ELV), tyres, used oil, non-ferrous metals, and construction and demolition waste. Furthermore, talks are underway regarding a new EPR rules for paper including cardboard, glass, and metal packaging as well as sanitary products. As regulatory management may be increasingly complex in the foreseeable future, these portals and platforms will ensure user-friendly compliance, particularly for companies that are applicable under multiple EPR frameworks.
(Example: An importer of electronics may be a regulated producer under multiple EPR regulations such as E-waste, plastic waste and batteries.)

Common EPR Portal

Previously, logging into each EPR portal required the repetitive effort of completing CAPTCHA and OTP (One-Time Password) authentication. The common EPR Portal enables linking all accounts, so that users can now log in to all portals with only one authentication, eliminating redundant steps. CPCB has also suggested phasing out individual EPR portals and combining all functions into this common portal, although a specific implementation schedule has yet to be notified.

Extended Producer Responsibility Electronic Trading Platform

Based on the same concept as the common portal, this site consolidates the trading of EPR certificates across all EPR regulations. All future EPR certificate transactions will be migrated to this platform.
