On July 16, 2026, South Korea's Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment (MCEE) issued an advance administrative notice of a proposed partial amendment to the Public Notice on Waste Items Subject to the Act on the Transboundary Movement of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal, and invited public comments through August 5, 2026. The proposed amendment would add “ferrous scrap” and “non-ferrous metals” to the list of import/export-controlled wastes. It would also exempt the following materials from the import declaration requirement:
