India Mandates Star Label Display on Websites, Including E-Commerce Platforms

On March 20, 2025, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in India issued a notice requiring star labels for the 39 appliances to be properly displayed at points of sale (POS), including e-commerce websites. Websites including e-commerce websites which sell mandatory products under the Standards & Labelling scheme must include detailed star label information. For voluntary products where labeling is optional, display of the labels may be done upon approval by BEE.
