India’s Delhi NCR government to Phase Out New Registrations of Diesel and CNG Light Goods Vehicles

On August 19, 2026, India's Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) issued a direction under Section 12 of the Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas Act, 2021, mandating the new registration of cleaner light goods vehicles (LGVs) in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR). Beginning in July 2027, the direction will progressively limit new LGV registrations in the NCR to electric vehicle models only.
