Taiwan to set EPR scheme for mobile phones from April 2024

On November 9, 2023, the Ministry of Environment of Taiwan issued a draft notice “Scope of mobile phone manufacturers and importers that should display the recycling mark and other obligations” to promote the EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) scheme for mobile phones. The draft notice was formulated based on the provisions of the Article 11 of “Resource Recycling Act”, which requires designated products to be marked with the recycling mark. The notice specifies the scope of obligated businesses, their obligations, and requirements for the recycling mark. According to the draft, the notice will take effect from April 1, 2024.
