Taiwan’s Environment Ministry Proposes Lower Recycling Levy for Lithium-Ion Battery Producers

On April 15,2025, Taiwan’s Environment Ministry announced a draft revision to its battery recycling levy structure, aiming to incentivize manufacturers and importers of lithium-ion batteries to establish recycling systems. The proposed changes are set to take effect July 1, 2025.

Under the revised scheme, companies that build their own recycling systems will be eligible for preferential levy.
