Taiwan Delays Implementation of Expanded Recycling Levy Scope for Plastic Packaging

On April 30, 2025, Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment has announced a two-month delay in the implementation of revised “Articles or their packaging containers and the scope of businesses that should be responsible for recycling and disposal” that expand the scope of plastic packaging materials subject to recycling levy.

The revision, originally scheduled to take effect on May 1, 2025, will now be enforced starting July 1, 2025. The delay is intended to give businesses more time to adjust to the new requirements.
