China revises procedure for identification of solid waste in imported goods

On Jan. 13, 2023, China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment and General Administration of Customs announced a revised procedure for the identification of solid waste in imported goods (Ministry of Ecology and Environment and General Administration of Customs Announcement No. 2 of 2023) for effective detection of imported solid waste and rigorous enforcement of the country’s Solid Waste Environmental Pollution Control Law. The revised procedure came into effect immediately, replacing the previous version (Ministry of Ecology and Environment and General Administration of Customs Announcement No. 70 of 2018).
