China’s Sichuan province promotes electrification in manufacturing, transportation and other sectors

On Dec. 20, 2022, the Provincial Development and Reform Commission and eight other departments of Sichuan province, China, announced a program that promotes electrification during the 2022–2025 period. This program aims to carry out 60 billion kWh worth of electrification in total, and increase the proportion of electricity in total terminal energy consumption to around 30% by 2025. To achieve these targets, it includes provincewide specific policies, such as promoting new-energy vehicles(NEV) and infrastructure development, in six different sectors as outlined below.
