Beijing, China, announces Carbon Peaking Implementation Plan

On October 13, 2022, the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, China announced the “Beijing Carbon Peaking Implementation Plan.” The plan proposes targets such as achieving a share of renewable energy consumption of around 25% by 2030. It also describes measures to strengthen the development of strategic emerging industries such as new energy vehicles and the development of non-fossil energy such as solar and wind power. In addition, Beijing has formulated laws and regulations concerning priority carbon emitters, and has indicated a policy to strengthen the management of priority carbon emitters.
