China designates 60 cities as key cities to develop waste recycling system

On July 19, 2022, the National Development and Reform Commission and other 6 central government departments jointly designated Beijing and other 59 cities as key cities to develop waste recycling systems and released the list of these cities. In the future, each of these cities have to develop the network system for waste recycling, improve the level of sorting, processing and utilization of recycled resources, and promote the development of second-hand commodity trading and remanufacturing industry. In addition, the construction of large-scale, networked, intelligent and standardized recycling stations, green sorting centers and trading centers that meet the requirements of relevant national and local standards should be focused, and the standardized collection facilities for waste plastics and textiles should be taken as important parts of the construction of the recycling system and be promoted jointly.

Flow management of dismantled items from waste products such as waste electrical and electronic products

In addition, cities where under suitable conditions should also build collection facilities for recyclable express packaging. In the designated key cities, the flow management of dismantled items from waste products such as waste electrical and electronic products, and the environmental pollution situations should be improved. Moreover, various forms of second-hand commodity trading channels should be built, the construction of high-quality auto parts remanufacturing projects should be encouraged, and remanufacturing projects in new fields such as aircraft, aero engines, and industrial robots should be explored.
