China publishes draft guidelines for standardized environmental management of non-hazardous industrial solid waste

On July 23, 2024, China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment published draft Guidelines for the Standardized Environmental Management of Non-Hazardous Industrial Solid Waste. The ministry is seeking comments on the draft through Aug. 15, 2024.

The guidelines aim to rigorously enforce the Solid Waste Environmental Pollution Prevention and Control Law1 and other laws and regulations, standardize the generation, storage, transportation, utilization and disposal of non-hazardous industrial solid waste by waste generators, and enhance the standardized environmental management of non-hazardous industrial solid waste.

The draft guidelines deal with environmental impact assessment, pollution discharge permits, cleaner production, manifest, storage, utilization, disposal, transportation, internal management of waste generators, and information disclosure.
