China announces national program for collecting proposals of key low-carbon technologies, promoting them

On Feb. 18, 2024, China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment and other ministries announced a national program for collecting proposals of key low-carbon technologies and promoting them. In relation to this program, they also started seeking proposals for the fifth installment of the National List of Key Low-carbon Technologies for Promotion1, instructing relevant government bodies to submit their proposals by March 25, 2024.

 

The program includes objectives for 2025 and 2030. It lists five key fields of low-carbon technology that need proposals:

  • Green and low-carbon transformation in energy
  • CO2 reduction in key sectors
  • CO2 storage and sequestration
  • Digitalization and “smartification”
  • Non-CO2 emission reduction
