China releases draft guidelines on green, low-carbon standards development for telecommunication industry

On July 18, 2023, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology published draft 2023 guidelines on the development of green and low-carbon standards for the telecommunication industry. The ministry is seeking comments on the draft through Aug. 17, 2023.

The draft guidelines show plans and focuses for standards development in the following seven fields of the telecommunication industry: energy conservation, comprehensive utilization of resources, carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, green manufacturing, joint construction and sharing, infrastructure construction and operation, and information and communications technology (ICT). The important plans for standards development in these fields are listed below:
