India promotes open access to green electricity

On June 6, 2022, the Ministry of Power of India published the Electricity (Promoting Renewable Energy Through Green Energy Open Access) Rules, 2022 to further accelerate its renewable energy program, with the ultimate goal of ensuring access to cheap, reliable, and sustainable energy for all. In addition to promoting the generation, purchase, and consumption of green electricity, including energy from waste power plants, these regulations simplify the process of open access to green electricity, and enable commercial and industrial consumers to purchase green electricity voluntarily and apply open access charges.
