India in Talks to Limit Air Conditioner Temperature Settings to Between 20~28°C

India’s local media has reported that a regulation is under consideration to standardize a fixed temperature setting between 20°C and 28°C for air conditioners, during August 2025. Newly manufactured units would be designed to operate only within this range, while for existing units regulatory measures are still under review. The regulation is expected to apply to residential air conditioners, as well as those in commercial buildings and automobiles.
