India Finalizing Draft on Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme

The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has notified the Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme on September 4, 2024, and is now seeking comments till September 27. As part of the country's efforts to achieve the net zero 2070 target, the National Green Hydrogen Mission was announced in 2023 to strengthen the production, use and export of green hydrogen. Hydrogen production management is expected to be strengthened further under this scheme, where producers whose hydrogen production process falls below certain greenhouse gas emission standards will be eligible for ‘green hydrogen’ certifications.
