India Notifies Revision Draft for Classification of Industrial Categories

On July 25, 2023, India’s Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has published a draft to amend the classification methodology of industrial categories, which is based on each of their environmental impact. Under the current methodology, classification of each industrial category is pre-determined accordingly, whereas this draft proposes a new methodology whereby factors such as environmental measures taken, size of operation, assessment of pollution index (PI) is considered.
