China Tightens Anti-Narcotics Enforcement Against Illicit Trafficking and Misuse of Eight Precursor Chemicals

On May 22, 2026, the National Narcotics Control Commission (NNCC) of China issued the Circular on Preventing Eight Types of Chemical Substances from Entering Illegal Channels and Being Misused for Illicit Narcotics Production. This enforcement initiative aims to proactively mitigate the high risk of supply chain diversion, where legitimate chemical raw materials are siphoned off into illicit drug manufacturing.
